DAANCE (Dental Anesthesia Assistants National Certification Exam) is a continuing education designed for oral and maxillofacial surgery assistants or assistants employed by other dental professionals with valid anesthesia permits, sponsored by The American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons. The DAANCE Certified Assistants have completed specific training in the following areas: 1) anatomy and physiology of the cardiovascular and respiratory systems. 2) Vascular anatomy of the forearm. 3) Central nervous system. 4) Medical history and the review of systems. 5) General anesthesia, deep sedation, conscious sedation, nitrous oxide analgesia and local anesthesia. 6) Drugs and techniques utilized by the oral and maxillofacial surgery. 7) Office emergencies and their treatment, including cardiovascular, respiratory, allergic and convulsive emergencies. 8) Monitoring blood pressure, pulse and oxygen saturation. 9) Electrocardiograph (ECG) waves and recognize serious abnormal variations from the normal rhythm. 10.) Medical records.
RDA (Registered Dental Assistant) requires certification, examination, registration, and ongoing continuing dental education as defined by the Texas State Board of Dental Examiners.
