Wisdom Teeth Extraction

The emergence of third molars between ages 18 and 24 can cause a wide range of complications. Wisdom teeth extraction is a commonly performed procedure that removes the wisdom teeth. The procedure is performed with fast-acting anesthesia and sedation to ensure that you are comfortable throughout the outpatient procedure. Patients will need to modify their diet for several days following the extraction.

Dental Implants

If you have experienced tooth loss, you understand that the dental problem can quickly become a quality of life issue as well. Missing teeth can impede one’s ability to eat and speak with ease. Dental implants provide a permanent solution to tooth loss. Dr. Tye will place a titanium post into your jaw. After three to six months, you will be fitted with a custom prosthetic by your general dentist. Implants can support a dental crown, bridge, or denture. Our office also offers All-on-4 dentures

Bone Grafting

Patients who have suffered from jawbone atrophy can benefit from a bone graft. One common barrier to dental implant candidacy is insufficient jawbone density. Often, bone loss occurs as a result of advanced age, trauma, or tooth loss. The oral surgery can be performed using IV sedation and fast-acting anesthesia. After Dr. Tye makes an incision in the gums, donor bone or grafting material is placed near the area that has experienced jaw bone recession. Full recovery typically takes a few months.

TMJ Surgery

The point at which your jaw connects to your skull is known as the temporomandibular joint (TMJ). When the joints do not work smoothly, a painful condition known as TMJ disorder arrises. If conservative treatments do not work, Dr. Tye can perform corrective jaw surgery.

Obstructive Sleep Apnea Syndrome

Obstructive Sleep Apnea Syndrome is a sleep disorder that causes difficulty in breathing. In a healthy patient, air flows through the nostrils, mouth, and throat. Patients with OSAS develop a blockage in the upper airway that causes a decrease in oxygen to the heart and brain. This can lead to health complications. Initially, your treatment therapy may include the use of a CPAP or bi-PAP appliance that promotes freer breathing at night. Long-term treatment options will be recommended as well.

Oral Pathology

Many varieties of tumors, cysts, and other lesions can develop and grow inside of your soft tissues and jawbone. Your Southlake oral surgeon can diagnoses pathologies through a visual examination and the use of advanced diagnostic tools to look for the earliest signs of a problem. Your initial exam may be followed by:

  • A follow-up evaluation
  • Biopsy
  • A laser removal procedure
  • The complete surgical removal of the lesion

According to the Oral Cancer Foundation, approximately 49,750 Americans will be diagnosed with oral cancer this year.
