At Texas Oral Surgery Specialists we provide IV Sedation in a AAAHC Certified Outpatient Surgery Center. As Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon Dr. Tye is uniquely qualified to provide this level of Anesthesia. A residency in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery requires extensive training in airway management, General Anesthesia and IV Sedation. All procedures are performed with state of the art continuous monitoring of respiration, end tidal C02, oxygen tissue content (saturation), blood pressure, heart rate and rhythm.
Short acting IV medications are used to reduce pain and anxiety by producing a depressed level of consciousness while the patient continues to breath spontaneously.
Requirements for IV Sedation:
- A history and physical exam at your pre-operative appointment.
- Nothing to eat or drink 6-8 hours prior to the procedure.
- A responsible escort to drive you home and stay with you for 24 hours.
