man contemplating all on four denture implant procedureColleyville dental implant surgeon Dr. Chris Tye has seen many patients endure years of loose, uncomfortable, slipping dentures before finally exploring the benefits of implants. For patients with good oral health, he often suggests the All on Four denture implants procedure. What makes All on Four more desirable than traditional implant-retained dentures? There are many benefits!

If you’d like to learn more about options to secure your loose dentures, call Colleyville oral surgeon Dr. Chris Tye today to reserve your consultation. Our office serves patients from Grapevine and Keller to Watauga and North Richland Hills, and we are accepting new patients now.

About the All on Four Procedure

You may think that one dental implant post can hold one crown. Therefore, denture wearers would need many implants to re-create a full mouth of teeth. Though it may seem logical, that’s simply not the case. The All on Four procedure allows Dr. Tye to secure a full denture to just four implants. Best of all, perhaps, is that the whole procedure can be completed in one day! Walk in with loose dentures and walk out with dental implants holding your denture dependably and solidly in place.

Benefits of All on Four

  • Only one short day surgery required for entire procedure.
  • Wear a temporary denture right after the procedure.
  • Just four implants will hold a full denture.
  • Bone grafting may be avoided because of a 45-degree tilt employed with the back implants; this can shorten treatment time for patients who would have otherwise needed a graft.

Benefits of Dental Implants

In addition to the positive aspects of All on Four, just having dental implants comes with perks.

  • Implants help retain jawbone tissue that may otherwise degenerate.
  • With good oral health and home care practices, your implants could last the rest of your life.
  • Implant dentures are extremely easy to care for and clean.
  • You’ll never need denture adhesive again.
  • Your denture will never, ever slip or wobble when secured to your implants.
  • As a result of a dependable denture, you may realize self-confidence improvement, particularly when dining out or eating in front of others.

The Placement Procedure

So you know that getting All on Four implant dentures can be done in a single visit. But what does that visit involve?

Before the day of implant placement, you’ll attend a consultation with Dr. Tye so that he can make sure you’re a good candidate for All on Four. In some rare cases, a patient’s health or medical history remove implants from viable treatment options. Most patients with good general health qualify for implants. The surgical procedure will be booked before you leave your consultation.

The day of your procedure, you’ll come to our Colleyville oral surgery office, and we’ll set you up in a comfortable treatment room. If you have concerns about your comfort with traditional anesthetic, Dr. Tye can provide oral or IV sedation. Once you’re ready, the dentist will secure four implant posts in specific areas of your jaw. You’ll be fitted with a temporary denture to wear for three or more months, until your bone adequately integrates with the implant posts.

Once your jaw has healed, you’ll return to our office, and Dr. Tye will uncover the implants and attach abutments, then secure your permanent denture. In some cases, the lab can retrofit dentures with implant snaps. Most often, a new denture is preferred. The denture can be fixed (non-removable) or removable – your choice. A fixed denture is ideal for patients who have cognitive or physical impairments that make denture care and insertion difficult.

With your new denture firmly snapped to implants, you can feel confident eating foods that were formerly taboo. Order that steak! Enjoy that caramel apple with the grandkids! You’ll look and feel years younger, and hopefully that will give you a reason to smile.
